LEGAL NOTICE OF PLANNED IMPROVEMENT

DES. #: 0101412

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is developing plans for the proposed State Road (SR) 45 bridge replacement over Lick Creek, west of Helmsburg, located in Brown County.  The total project length is about 0.2 mile.

The proposed project involves the replacing the existing structure with a 3 span reinforced concrete slab bridge.  One 12 foot lane and one 5 foot shoulder (4 foot paved) will be provided for each direction of traffic.  The project will also improve the approaches and extend the road work to the intersection of SR 45 with Lick Creek Road by using curb and gutter with a shoulder that narrows from 4 feet wide to existing.  As part of the curb installation, storm sewer inlets will be built and convey the drainage west to the ditch along the south side of SR 45.

Construction of the project will require approximately 2.45 acres of new permanent right-of-way.  No displacement of residents or businesses will be involved with this project.  Traffic is proposed to be detoured onto State-maintained routes, using portions of SR 135 and SR 46 during the construction period.   Local routes may be used by local traffic.

Total cost of the project is estimated at $ 2,000,000.  At present, we are planning to use both state and federal funds for construction of the project.  However construction of the project is contingent upon available funding.

The Federal Highway Administration and the Indiana Department of Transportation have agreed that this project falls within the guidelines of a Categorical Exclusion Level 2 with no effect to wetlands.

Preliminary design plans, along with the environmental document and other information, are being made available for review in the following offices.  1.  Planning Department, Indiana Department of Transportation District at 185 Agrico Lane,  Seymour, Indiana 47274, Phone # (812) 522-5649  2.  Hearings Examiner, Room N642 of the Indiana Government Center North, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204‑2216, Phone # (317) 234-0796 E-Mail:   HYPERLINK "mailto:mwright@indot.IN.gov" mwright@indot.IN.gov  3.
