PRIMARY ELECTION DAY is Tuesday, May 4.

POLLS will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

POLL LOCATIONS and PRECINCT MAPS can be found in the Primary Election Guide that was distributed with the April 14 paper. Those booklets are stilll available at The Democrat office, for free, and can be downloaded from bcdemocrat.com. The Brown County Clerk's office also can provide that information (988-5510). Or, go online to www.indianavoters.com.

BRING TO THE POLLS a valid photo ID. It must display your name (which matches the name on the voter registration record), your photo and an expiration date, and be issued by the state of Indiana or the U.S. government. If you need an ID, visit the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Nashville, which will be open extended hours Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on the voter ID law, visit www.PhotoID.in.gov.

PARTY LINES: According to the Indiana Election Committee, in Indiana, registered voters are just that — registered voters. There is no official "registered Republican" or "registered Democrat." So, in a primary election, any registered voter can select a Democrat or Republican ballot.
