Obituaries
Joe Titsworth, 97, died Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Edinburgh and Fort Myers, Fla.
He was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Brown County. His parents, Elias S. and Eliza (Beech) Titsworth, preceded him in death. He was raised by Paul and Elda (Stillabower) Johnson, who also preceded him in death.
He married Delores (Royce) Titsworth on Oct. 23, 1936, and she preceded him in death Aug. 7, 1988. He later married Loretta (Roach) Manning Titsworth on Feb. 21, 1989, and she survives.
Other survivors include a sister, Nettie (Dan) Hillin of Columbus; a foster brother, Carl (Mary) Kabrich of Edinburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Titsworth; two sisters, Thursa Shallenberger and Rosetta Titsworth; four half brothers; six half sisters; five stepbrothers; and two stepsisters.
He attended grade school in the Atterbury area and graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1931.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
He was a member of Edinburgh First Presbyterian Church, where he was a past elder. He also was a member of Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233, Edinburgh Masonic Lodge No. 100 for 60 years where he was a past master, Edinburgh Lions Club and Edinburgh and Nineveh Senior Citizen Centers.
He retired from Miles Laboratories, formerly Union Starch & Refining in Edinburgh, in 1970 after 24 years of service.
He was a former member of Edinburgh Cemetery Board, was Blue River Bank board member from 1980 to 1990 and was former Boy Scout leader of Pack No. 255, a former member of Johnson County and Fort Myers horseshoe clubs and a former hospice volunteer.
He enjoyed fishing, golf and playing bridge and euchre.
The Revs. Rachel Wann and Ray Bowden will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Edinburgh First Presbyterian Church, 306 E. Main Cross St. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
