Dorothy P. Crippen, 79, Nashville, died Saturday, Nov. 14 at Brown County Health and Living Center.

Born May 17, 1930, in Mount Sterling, Ky., she was the daughter of Henry Howe and Maggie Spears.

She retired in food service from Bloomington Hospital and Indiana University. She was a member of the Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Larry Bruce and Linda and Tim Richardson, all of Bloomington; one son, Michael Crippen of Indianapolis; three grandsons, Brad Richardson of Eureka, Calif., Chris Richardson and wife Sarah, and Timothy Scott Crippen, all of Bloomington; two great-grandsons, Gordon Richardson and Liam Richardson, both of Eureka, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Alice Howe of Richmond, Ky., Linda Johnson of Lexington, Ky., and Norma Jean Godsey of Dayton, Ohio; and one brother, Marvin Howe of Winchester, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maggie (Spears) Howe; husband Franklin “Frank” Crippen; and two brothers, Arthur J. Howe and Robert Lee Howe.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. James R. Hicks officiating. Internment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel in Bloomington and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
