Jerry Depew Sr., 67, Nashville

Jerry Wayne Depew Sr., 67, of Nashville, passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, July 26, 2014.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30, 2014, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 State Road 135 South, Greenwood, with the funeral at 1 p.m. and burial immediately following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Jerry was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Harold Depew Sr. and Susie Depew July 3, 1947. He married Phyllis Oct. 27, 2967. He worked as a maintenance technician for Westvaco Envelope for 31 years.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, always on the go and never idle. If he was not out on a hunting trip or fishing trip, you could find him tinkering in his garage or working around the cabin and land he loved. As on the go as he was, there was always time for family. Whether it was a family cookout, shooting targets or just a visit, a great time was had by all.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother; grandparents; and a son.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Jerry W. Depew Jr., Mechelle Garr (Larry), Melissa Smith (Jim), Melinda Messenger (Tim) and Corey Depew (Carrie); brothers and sisters, Doug, Donnie, Jay, Harold Jr., Linda and Darlene; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
