Sylvia Hatmaker, 82, Mooresville

Sylvia A. Hatmaker, 82, Mooresville, died July 9, 2014, in Meadow Lakes.

Mrs. Hatmaker was born June 22, 1932, in New Market, Tennessee, to the late Joe Ralph and Flossie Mae (McIntosh) Cox.

She graduated from Jefferson City High School (Tennessee), where she played on the basketball team. A hardworking lady, Sylvia worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 52 years. She worked in the phone room, ticket office, and was the corporation’s first female terminal manager.

Sylvia was a faithful member of LifePointe Community Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed gardening, nature, fishing and spending time outdoors. Sylvia lived a full life and will be missed by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Ray Hatmaker; a son, Joe Hatmaker, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Anderson (Don) of Nashville; son, Tim Hatmaker (Melina) of Mooresville; sister, Betty Jane Tate of Tennessee; and six grandchildren, Daniel, Jameson, Shaun, Joshua, Darren and Morgan.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, July 14 in the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 13. Pastor Randall Garing will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the church or to Riley Hospital for Children.
