David Zimmerman, 70, Trafalgar

David Zimmerman, 70, of Trafalgar, passed away Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

David was born Aug.13, 1943, in Brown County, to Denzil Leroy Zimmerman and Jessie (Rund) Zimmerman. David graduated from Helmsburg High School in 1961. He married Linda Kay (Baker) Zimmerman Aug. 1, 1975, in
Edinburgh. She survives after 39 loving years.

David proudly served as a specialist E-4 in the 6th Battalion of the 71st Artillery Division, United States Army during the Vietnam War.

David retired in 1998 after working for 47 years as a carpenter. He was a member of the
Carpenters Union Local #1775 in Columbus and of the Carpenters and Jointers Union #301 in Indianapolis.

David was owner and operator of Dave Zimmerman Trucking Company, served on the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department Horse Patrol and as a reserve deputy for 15 years, retiring in 2002.

David enjoyed restoring classic cars, playing his guitar and singing music with his family. He sang with the Gospel Tones for several years. David was a member, music director and past trustee of Sycamore Bible Church in Trafalgar.

David will be missed by his devoted wife, Linda; sons: Russell (Kellie) Zimmerman of
Indianapolis, Bobby (Stacy) Hogue and Jason (Terri) Zimmerman, both of Trafalgar, and
Clayton (Sarah) Zimmerman of Morgantown; a sister, Jody Ogden of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilynn Adams.

The Rev. Ervin Stutzman will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at Sycamore Bible Church, 699 Park St. in Trafalgar. Friends can call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, at the church and an hour prior to the service June 21 at the church. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Brown County with military graveside rites presented by the Brown County Honor Guard.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &
Personalization Center in Morgantown.
