Teresa L. (Hogue) Waltz, 52, Trafalgar

Teresa L. (Hogue) Waltz, 52, Trafalgar, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at her home.

Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who Teresa had touched in some way throughout her memorable life. Teresa will be known for her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends. There were many supports that carried her through her courageous five-month battle with kidney cancer.

She was born Jan. 8, 1962, in Franklin to David and Anna (Cates) Hogue of Franklin. Teresa was a 1980 graduate of Franklin High School and went on to marry Greg A. Waltz Sept. 13, 1986, at the Waltz Shelter House in Trafalgar. Greg lovingly survives after 27 devoted years of marriage.

Teresa is also survived by her children, Levi, Christina and Garrett Waltz, all of Trafalgar. She will be remembered by her siblings, Beth (Steve) Burns of Florida, David (Yvonna) Hogue of Franklin and Jo (Paul) Matthew of Greenwood; father-in-law, Herschel Waltz of Trafalgar; brother-in-law, Michael (Allison) Waltz of Trafalgar; sister-in-law, Lynn (Todd) Clayton of St. Paul; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

Teresa was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Jane Waltz.

Teresa worked the past 14 years as a teacher and Title One assistant at Indian Creek Elementary. Prior to that, she worked as a receptionist for Aldi, Inc. in Greenwood and an administrative assistant for Franklin College. Teresa loved spending time with her family, reading, embroidering and cross-stitching and traveling.

A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Burt Brock at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at First Christian Church of Morgantown, 2717 S. Morgantown Road.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

The Waltz family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually.

Memorial contributions can be sent in honor of Teresa to the “Waltz Strong for Teresa” Foundation, in care of Mutual Bank, 2 Trafalgar Square, Trafalgar, IN 46181.

Expressions of caring and kindness can be made to the Waltz family at meredith-clark.com.
