Kevin Sheehan, 68, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Kevin Edward Sheehan, 68, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died April 16, 2014, at Bert Fish Hospital in New Smyrna Beach.

He was born June 17, 1945, in Greenfield, Massachusetts to Walter and Lillian Fontaine Sheehan.

He was raised in New Milford, Conn., at Canterbury School where his father was the headmaster. After attending Canterbury School he went to Williams College and received a master’s degree from Harvard Business School. He then moved to Nashville and joined Cummins Engine Company in Columbus in labor relations. It was there that he met his wife, Barbara Ann Frank. After more than 20 years at Cummins, he moved to Indianapolis and joined CID Venture Capital as a partner. He spent 12 years with CID before joining Cambridge Capital also in Indianapolis.

He served on the board of numerous companies including Flowserve Corporation, Contour Hardening, The Board of Trustees for Canterbury School and most recently Civic Science.

Two years ago, he and his wife, Barbara, moved permanently to New Smyrna Beach to begin his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann; and sons, Timothy (Alexa) of Culver City, Calif., and James of Indianapolis. His sister, Monica (Michael) Bennett, resides in Cambridge, Mass. His granddaughter, Isla Stuart Sheehan, lives with her parents in Culver City, Calif. He is also survived by a niece and three nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Peter (Medora).

Kevin's dedication to his family, friends, community and church was an integral commitment throughout his lifetime. His hobbies included golf, reading, bridge and crossword puzzles.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Kevin Sheehan Memorial Fund at The Hub on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. 

His kind smile, gentle demeanor and heartfelt support will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, dear Kevin.
