Local students, teacher included in Annis art contest winners
Updated on: 04.28.14

Four Brown County students and one Brown County teacher are included in the 17th annual Mabel B. Annis Memorial Student Art Competition, hanging now at the Brown County Art Gallery.

The show is a joint effort between the Annis Trust, which provides prize money; the Brown County Art Gallery Foundation and Indiana Heritage Arts.

Robert Annis, an Indianapolis businessman, created the student art competition in memory of his mother, with the goal of creating a professional setting for students to exhibit their work and offer them for sale.

Awards were given during a reception April 27. The show will be viewable until Thursday, May 1.

Winners were from eight area junior and senior high schools.

Local winners were:

JUNIOR HIGH

Isabella Greiner, Brown County Junior High School -- First place, Drawing II

Vera Wagler, BCJHS -- First place, 3D III

Madalyn Allen, BCJHS -- Third place, Painting I

Jennifer Talley, teacher, BCJHS -- Junior high teacher award

SENIOR HIGH

Matthew Allen, Brown County High School -- Second place, Drawing II
