Arlene Lucas, 81, Columbus

Arlene Lucas, 81, Columbus, passed away at 1:49 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Lucas was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Marion, the daughter of Charles and Goldie Blackburn Kindle. She married Malcum Lucas in Hope in July 2004; he preceded her in death Aug. 5, 2013.

Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crocheting and knitting. She was a 1951 graduate of Freetown High School.

She is survived by her three sons, Joe White of Freetown, Robert (Terry) White of Columbus and Randall (Karen) White of Edinburgh; one daughter, Star (Lee) Johnsen of St. Petersburg, Fla.; caregiver, Renee Daniels of Scipio; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two grandchildren, Joseph Jeremy White and Amanda White.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. David Summers officiating. Friends can call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in the Melott Cemetery in Brown County.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Pleasant Valley Church in Gnaw Bone.
