David E. Stillabower, 66, Nashville

David E. Stillabower, 66, of Nashville, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:29 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

David was a 1965 graduate of Columbus High School where he was a member of the most winning basketball team in school history. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to play basketball at Indiana Central College where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1969.

David was an independent contractor, helping many families with home improvements.

David was baptized at First Christian Church in Columbus. An avid golfer, David enjoyed the outdoors, the water and being on his boat in Sarasota, Fla., the time he spent with family and watching basketball; he was known as the master of one-liners.

A celebration of David's life will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St., Columbus, with Dan Wallace officiating.

Family and friends can call from 3:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday, April 16, at the funeral home.

The family asks memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Born in Columbus April 22, 1947, David was son of Roy E. and Martha A. Carson Stillabower.

David is survived by his companion, Mary McGahey of Nashville; daughters, Michelle (Ryan) Bradbury of Indianapolis, Kimberly (Nate) Bean of Columbus, and Roxanne Stillabower of Columbus; grandchildren, Aiden and Noah Bradbury, Meredith and Mason Bean, and Kellen Carr; sisters, Suzanne Bongiorno of Columbus and Nancy (Greg) Lewis of Columbus; a niece, Lauren Lewis of Columbus; and nephews, Mike Bongiorno of Costa Mesa, CA and Austin Lewis of
Columbus.

David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stephen Stillabower; and a nephew, Ryan Lewis.
