James H. “Jim” Walters, 83, Indianapolis

James H. “Jim” Walters, 83, Indianapolis, passed away Saturday evening, March 15, 2014, at his home. He was a former resident of Morgantown.

Jim was born March 21, 1930, in Indianapolis to the late James Garland and Ella Marie (Hand) Walters. He was a 1948 graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis. Jim married Virta Lavell "Pat" McCurdy Feb. 25, 1950, in Indianapolis. She survives in Indianapolis. He later married Lottie May Downam Walters July 18, 1965, in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2008.

Jim retired in 2008 as owner and operator of TNT Sheet Metal after 50 years. He was known as the "HVAC sheet metal man", a trade he was proud to teach his children.
Jim was an avid reader of history and the Bible. He enjoyed working in his garden, all watersports and being with his family.

Survivors include his children, Steve (Chris) Walters of Indianapolis, Connie (Ray) Long of Greenwood, James (Eilene) Walters of Nineveh: stepchildren, Anthony “Tony” Brewer and Gregory Brewer both of Tiffin, Ohio, Karen Smith of Indianapolis and Patricia (DeWayne) Snodderly of North Vernon; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie May; and parents.

The Rev. Anthony Wilks conducted a funeral service March 19 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, Morgantown. Friends called before the service March 19 at the funeral home.
