Florence Easter, 89, North Vernon

Florence Easter, 89 of North Vernon, passed away at 7:20 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at Seymour Crossing.

Mrs. Easter was born May 9, 1924, in Seymour, daughter of Alonzo and Ada St. John Parker. She married William Virgil Easter Oct. 6, 1939 in Elizabethtown; he preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2006.

Mrs. Easter worked as a custodian for Arvin Industries in Columbus, retiring in 1989 after 40 years. She was a member of Brown’s Corner Chapel where she enjoyed helping with Bible school. She enjoyed going to auctions, working crossword puzzles, reading the Bible and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Marvin (Donita Butler) Easter of Columbus, and David (Mary) Easter of Scipio; five grandchildren, Allen and William Easter, both of Scipio, Terry (Shelly) Easter and Eric Easter, both of North Vernon, and Tonya Mann of Brown County; 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Donald Easter; a granddaughter, Candace Bowling; two brothers, Paul Parker and David Bikley; and two sisters, Kathryn Welch and Blanche Parker.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Brown’s Corner Chapel in Scipio, with the Rev. Mark Hammel officiating. Friends can call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday, March 26, at the church. Burial will be at Reddington Cemetery.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Brown’s Corner Chapel.
