Dorris Fleetwood, 92, Nashville

Dorris Fleetwood, 92, Nashville, died Sunday evening, March 16, 2014, at Brown County Health and Living Community.

Born Aug. 12, 1921, in Brown County, he was the son of Treva and Vella (Deckard) Fleetwood. He owned and operated Fleetwood Bros. Excavating and R & V Trucking. He was U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of the V.F.W. and the Bloomington American Legion Post 18. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and a former member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge No. 446. He had formerly served as the head of the Republican Party in Brown County.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Emma Lee “Emily” (Hornaday) Fleetwood of Nashville; two daughters, Diane Hardin of Brown County and Vicki (Glenn) Burton of Stilesville; special son, Jerry “Red” Floyd of Nashville; stepdaughter, Debra Williams of Nashville; two stepsons, Tony Williams of Bloomington and William “Will” Long Jr., of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Fleetwood of Nashville and Max Fleetwood of Marion, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Betty Fleetwood of Brown County; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Evelyn Jean “Dean” (Hobbs) Fleetwood; two brothers, Dale and Henry Fleetwood; one sister, Evelyn Rariden; and one great-grandson, Lonnie Stacy IV.

A Masonic memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville immediately followed by the funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at the Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends can visit the family at the funeral home from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
