Mabel (Fox) Condon, 87, Indianapolis

Mabel M. (Fox) Condon, 87, passed away Sunday evening, March 2, 2014, at Altenheim Health & Living Community in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Brown County.


Mabel was born in Indianapolis March 7, 1926 to her parents, the late James Otto and Mable (Bolton) Fox. The Rev. Loren Gray married Mabel to her devoted husband of 41 years, Costa C. Condon, April 14, 1944, at the Goshen Church in Brown County. Costa preceded her in death March 1, 1986.


Mabel was a loving homemaker and mother to her children, Jacqueline (Fred) Hicks of Indianapolis, Linda (Marvin) Allison of Indianapolis, Renee Vest of Indianapolis, Jeffrey (Amy) Condon of Newport News, Va., Christopher (Karen) Condon of Indianapolis and Rhonda (John) Redenbarger of Unionville. Mabel will be remembered by her brother, James W. (Ireta) Fox of Brown County; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Ayers, Lorene Gray, Loretta Woodall and Claudia Talbott; three brothers, Raymond, Daniel and Russell Fox; one grandson, Joseph Condon; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica Whisler and Liam Redenbarger.


Mabel enjoyed the outdoors by working in her vegetable and flower gardens, mushroom hunting and traveling with her husband. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Mabel was known for her cooking, especially her fried chicken, fried mushrooms and homemade stuffing. She loved her family and cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.


A family graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Fred Hicks at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
