Larry Ray Harder, 61, Brown County

Larry Ray Harder, 61, Brown County, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Feb. 19, 2014 at his home in Nineveh.

He was born July 9, 1952, in Indianapolis, to Theodore “Sonny” and Dorothy (Clifton) Harder. Larry was a 1972 graduate of Greenfield High School. He married his loving wife, Diana Marie (Wooton) Harder, June 5, 1976 in Brown County. She survives after 37 years of a wonderful marriage.

Larry retired in 2000 from the Cordry-Sweetwater Conservancy District where he worked as maintenance supervisor for 26 years. Larry was a lifetime member as a firefighter and a first responder for the Cordry-Sweetwater Fire Department. He was also a member of the Nineveh Masonic Lodge. Larry enjoyed woodworking, fishing and all outdoor activity. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and of NASCAR. Larry also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife; son, Jerry (wife, Angela) Harder of Brownsburg; daughter, Jennifer (husband, Darrin) Grider of Franklin; mother, Dorothy Harder of Nineveh; brother, Mark Harder of Nineveh; sisters, Karen Harder and Linda Alexander, both of Nineveh; in-laws, Russell and Fay Wooton of Nashville; maternal grandmother, Helen Shaw Clifton Moore of Washington; five grandchildren, Alexis Purtlebaugh, Emma Grider, Brylee, Beckett and Brennan Harder; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Theodore “Sonny” Harder; and grandparents, Ted and Hazel Harder and Lawrence Clifton.

The Nineveh Masonic Lodge was to conduct a Masonic service at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, followed by the Rev. Darrel Miller conducting a funeral service at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown. Friends can call from 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb 23 until service time at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Larry to the Cordry-Sweetwater Fire Department at 101 Firehouse Dr., Nineveh, IN 46164.
