Violet M. (White) Atwood, 80, Franklin

Violet M. (White) Atwood, 80, Franklin, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Jan. 30, 2014 at her home.

She was born in Franklin March 21, 1933 to the late Fredrick Arthur and Dorothy Fern (Craig) White. Violet married Wilburn F. ‘Dee’ Atwood July 11, 1959. Dee preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2012 after 52 loving years of marriage. 

Violet is survived by her children, Dana (George) Moore of Franklin, Rebecca Asher of Celina, Tenn., Angela (Jeff Gillard) Atwood, David (Judy) Asher, Richard (Dirinda) Asher, Kerry (Sara) Atwood, all of Franklin and Scott (Gina) Atwood of Indianapolis. She will be remembered by her siblings, Roberta (Wayne) Cheek of Whiteland, Diana (Ray) Payton of Greensburg and Sandy (Debbie) White of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. 

Violet was preceded in death by two sons, Francis Eugene Asher & Steven Lee Atwood.

She retired in 1991 as activities director for Franklin Senior Center and prior to that, she held the same position at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. Violet was a life-long member of Franklin Memorial Christian Church and was a former member of the church’s choir. She enjoyed listening to country and gospel music and was a fan of Crystal Gayle and Patsy Cline. Violet was also a fan of the Young & Restless soap opera and games shows on television.  

The Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday Feb. 3 at Franklin Memorial Christian Church, 1720 Graham Road in Franklin. Friends can call from 11:00 a.m. until service time Feb. 3 at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
