Marjorie Taylor, 88, Aiken, S.C.

Former Nashville resident Marjorie Taylor died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in Aiken, S.C. She relocated to Aiken in 2008 to be nearer her daughter. She was 88.
Mrs Taylor was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Grimesland, N.C., to Guy and Hattie Elks. She was married to Harold “Chief” Taylor July 3, 1946, in Greenville, N.C. She was a member of the Nashville Christian Church.
She worked in the cafeteria of Nashville Elementary and Brown County High School for many years. After her retirement, she could be seen on the streets of Nashville as she took her daily walk.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Hyer (John) of Aiken, S.C.; two grandchildren, Dan Hyer (KC) and Ann Johnson (Chris) of Chicago; and one great-granddaughter. Other survivors include a brother, William Curtis Elks of Columbia, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nashville’s Greenlawn Cemetery.
