Charles M. Mitchell, 71, Franklin

Charles M. Mitchell, 71, Franklin, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013.

Charles was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Peoga, Brown County to Lloyd and Carrie (Graves) Mitchell. He married Betty Ramsey Dec. 10, 1962, in Trafalgar; they were married for 50 years.

He was a forklift driver at Arvin Industries for 30 years, retiring in 2004. Charles was a member of the Greenwood and Columbus Moose lodges. He enjoyed bluegrass music at the hog roast, camping and watching television. He was a fan of the Duck Dynasty show and hanging out with the guys at Lester Stevens Shop. He was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mitchell of Franklin; five children, Gary (Lisa) Taylor of Edinburgh, Tammy (David) Caseltine of Georgia, Melinda (Thomas) Banta of Trafalgar, Allen (Jennifer) Mitchell and Kerri (Max) Crews, both of Franklin; four sisters, Ruth Anderson of North Dakota, Shirley Barnard of Florida, Judy (Richard) Byers of Royal Center and Gail (Mark) Doucey of Bargersville; a brother, David (Lois) Mitchell of Alabama; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his three dogs, Lucy, Cleo and Sparky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roland Mitchell; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Hogue.

A funeral service was conducted Dec. 9 at Edinburgh United Methodist Church. Visitation was Dec. 9 at the Edinburgh church.
