Thelma Land, 90, Brown County

Thelma Land, 90, of Brown County, formerly of Seymour, died at 6:10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Brown County Health & Living Community.

Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, embroidering and gardening.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Garland Brook Cemetery in the Garden of Gethsemane.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Brown County Historical Society, P.O. Box 1202, Nashville, IN 47448.

She was born in Brown County April 11, 1923, daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Moffit Skinner.

She married Raymond K. Land Jan. 2, 1943; he preceded her in death June 18, 1995.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Jennie) Land of Neenah, Wisc. and Sharon (Cecil) Downs of Columbus; a sister, Iva (Bill) Sorgius of Columbus; grandchildren, Teresa (Craig) Wiseman, Kelly (Ben) Simpson, Robert Land, Douglas (Samantha) Downs, Kristy Bartes and Keri (Chris) Walker, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Chester, Howard, Woodrow and Ralph Skinner; and sisters, Ruth Lankey, Anise Gates and LaVonne Taylor.
