NOTICE OF

AVAILABILITY OF ADA SELF-EVALUATION AND

TRANSITION PLAN

Brown County has conducted a Self-Evaluation of all County-owned facilities and all County programs for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and prepared a draft Transition Plan describing the results of the self-evaluation.  Title II of the ADA requires that each of the County's services, programs, and activities be readily accessible and usable by individuals with disabilities.

Copies of the draft Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan will be available for public review at the following locations between November 27, 2013 and December 13, 2013:

County Offices (County Administrator/ ADA Coordinator’s Office) – 201 Locust Lane, Nashville

Public Library (Circulation Desk) – 205 Locust Lane, Nashville

Comments can be provided, in writing, by the deadline of December 13, 2013 at 4 p.m. to Dr. Michael Thompson, ADA Coordinator in person, via mail or via email at thompsonme@browncounty-in.us.

In addition, the County has scheduled a meeting to solicit public input and comment on the Transition Plan, and will consist of a short presentation at the beginning of the meeting to provide information on the Transition Plan, followed by open discussion and interaction with attendees.  This will be an opportunity for the community to ask questions as well as provide suggestions and comments on the draft Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.  All comments will be reviewed, considered and included in the appendix of the document.  The meeting will be held in Salmon Room at the County Offices building, 201 Locust Lane, on December 9, 2013 at 5:30 pm.

It is the intention of the County Council to adopt the Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan at their next regular meeting.

Brown County complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Upon request, the County will provide written materials in appropriate alternative formats, or disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to enable individuals with disabilities to participate in public meetings. Please send a written request, including your name, mailing address, phone number and brief description of the requested materials and preferred alternative format or auxiliary aid or service at least three (3) business days prior to the meeting to the ADA Coordinator, 201 Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana, 47448 (812) 988-4901
