Rosemary D. (DeHart) Sanders, 84, Bargarsville

Rosemary D. (DeHart) Sanders, 84, passed away after a seven-year courageous battle with PsP (Progressive Supernuclear Palsy) Sunday morning, Nov. 17, 2013, at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a resident of Bargersville.

Rosemary was born in Clark Township in Johnson County March 18, 1929, to  the late Herman "Mike" and Teresa (Gallagher) DeHart. She was a 1947 graduate of Trafalgar High School. She retired in 1987 as secretary for the middle school guidance department of Center Grove Community School Corporation. Prior to that, Rosemary worked in the personnel department for Eli Lilly & Company for eight years. She also worked alongside her husband in the family business, Sanders Auction Services, as the cashier. Many auctions were conducted in the Brown County area.

Rosemary is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Richard A. Sanders, whom she married Sept. 16, 1950, in Franklin. Together they raised two sons, Larry R. (Cathy) Sanders of Bargersville and Bruce A. Sanders of Greenwood. She was grandmother of Courtney M. (Jeff) Lasiter of Greenwood, Emily C. Sanders of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nathan B. (Abbey) Sanders of Greenwood. Rosemary is survived by her siblings, Joseph (Nancy) DeHart of Trafalgar, Herman (Dianne) DeHart of Georgetown, Texas, and John DeHart of Franklin; and by several nieces and nephews.

Rosemary was preceded in death by a sister, Delores DeHart; and three brothers, George, Donald and Russell DeHart.

She attended Mount Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood and was a member of the Bargersville Republican Women’s Club. Rosemary was a former Republican vice precinct committee person for several years and was also a past Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed working in her rose gardens.

The Rev. Dr. J. Wesley Hertel will conduct a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 State Road 135 South, Greenwood. Friends can call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown.

Memorial contributions can be sent in honor of Rosemary to the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, 9500 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44195.
