Ruth E. Butler, 93, Columbus

Ruth E. Butler, 93, Columbus, passed away at 1:28 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation.

Ruth was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Bartholomew County to the late John Adam and Mammie Rambow Eudy. She married James D. Butler Oct. 30, 1940; he preceded her in death Jan. 10, 2008.

Ruth was a member of Jonesville Christian Church and loved spending time with her family and friends.

A funeral service was to be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday Nov. 11 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Stan Thomas officiating. Family and friends were to call from noon until service time Nov. 11 at the funeral home. Burial was to be at Daugherty Cemetery.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Beverly A. Spurgeon of Columbus; grandchildren, Duane Butler, Tracy (Tom) Daily, Tina Lee, Doug (Bianca) Webber, and Larry (Stacey) Webber; 10 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Sharon Butler of Jonesville, and Louann Butler of Brown County; and a sister, Harriett Quillen of Columbus.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James D. Butler; sons, Jim and Larry Butler; a grandson, J.D. Spurgeon; a son-in-law, Jim Spurgeon; three brothers; and three sisters.
