Local artists of all types wanted to contribute to 'Brown County Quilt of Culture'
Updated on: 11.06.13

The Nashville Arts and Entertainment Commission is hosting a public discussion from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Brown County Inn, 51 State Road 46 East, to exchange ideas and to create a public art project for Arts Village Brown County publicity.

The project is a Brown County Quilt of Culture, the commission reports.

The commission will provide a 6-inch-square "patch" (tile) of illustration board. Bring a finished patch to apply to the illustration board or bring materials to create it at the meeting. The patches will be coated and assembled at a later date for a public art display in a local venue.

"The patch should represent you," the commission reports. "It could be a painting, a business logo, a favorite song lyric, a CD cover, a photo of artwork, etc." The commission will have some art supplies and a computer handy for scanning and resizing.

Kara Barnard, local musician and artist, has volunteered to help facilitate the meeting.

"As you are putting your patches (tiles) together, you will be sitting and sharing ideas about how to make the arts more visible to visitors and residents," the commission reports. "You will work together at the table just like quilters do."
