Martin L. “Marty” Bock Sr., 75, Brown County

Martin L. “Marty” Bock Sr., 75, Brown County, passed away quietly Thursday evening, Oct. 31, 2013 at his home. By his side was his loving wife of 37 years, Dorothy M. (Graham) Bock, whom he married May 29, 1976 in Greenfield.

He was born in Brown County Jan. 19, 1938 to Howard M. and Mary Elizabeth (Tracy) Bock. Marty was a 1956 graduate of Brown County High School and attended Tri-State College in Angola. He served as a private with the Indiana National Guard from 1956 to 1958. Marty retired in 2000 as a dock worker for Roadway Express in Indianapolis after 23 years of service. Marty was also a 23-year member of the Teamsters Union Local #135 in Indianapolis.

Marty is survived by his wife; mother, Mary Pogue of Nashville; four children, Patricia Lee Bock of Nashville, James Lee Bock of Bradenton, Fla., Judy Brown of Nineveh and Tony R. Brown of Glasgow, Ky. He will be remembered by his brother, Tracy E. Bock of Taylorsville; six grandchildren, Mathew (Mary) Wilson of Robins AFB, Warner Robins, Ga., Kayla (John) Frisby of New York, Terry (Samantha) Tredway, Jeremy Tredway and Jeff Warren, all of Brown County and Martin Lee Bock III of Florida; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marty was preceded in death by his father; a son, Martin Lee Bock, Jr.; and a great-grandson, Celestial Tredway.

Marty was a member and past master of Nashville Masonic Lodge #135. He was a fan of all sports, especially NASCAR, Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. Marty was known for his carpentry skills and built the cabin that he and his wife have lived in for the past 28 years. He enjoyed living in the hills of Brown County where he could fish, feed the deer and turkeys, watch the woodpeckers work and feed up to over a hundred hummingbirds at one time.

Chaplin Clyce Hobbs of the Nashville Masonic Lodge will conduct a celebration of Marty’s life along with a Masonic service at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown.

Friends can call from 3 p.m. until time of service Nov. 3 at the funeral home.

Expressions of caring and kindness can be made to the Bock family at meredith-clark.com.
