Kay McInteer, 61, Nashville

Kay McInteer, 61, Nashville, died at 1:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at her home.

Kay earned a bachelor's degree from Bluffton College in Ohio.

Kay was a counselor and social worker at the former children's home in Columbus and later at Camp Atterbury.

An avid rock collector, Kay enjoyed gardening and she was a caregiver to all animals.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 4205 West Jonathan Moore Pike, Columbus, with Tim Dillingham officiating.

Family and friends can call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

Burial will be at Lewis Creek Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions can be made to I.U. Health Hospice of Bloomington.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Dec. 2, 1951, Kay was daughter of Fred Carl and Vivian Margaret Cairnes Dorsett. She married Tom D. McInteer July 20, 1991.

Survivors include her husband; sisters, Catherine Rowlan of Tennessee, Phyllis Finecy of Indianapolis, Charlotte Barnhart of Florida, and Chris Gelo of Limo, Ohio; a brother, Donald (Corine) Dorsett of Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and six brothers.
