Joseph Gee, 83, North Vernon

Joseph D. Gee, 83, North Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. The Rev. Marvin Wright and the Rev. Dan Corbin will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 20 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born March 24, 1930, Joseph was the son of the late Louis Hurst and Carrie Buck Gee. He married Katheleen Bower Dec. 17, 1950. She preceded him in death May 27, 2012.

Joseph retired from Cummins Inc. in 1990 after 40 years of service. He was a member of Diesel Workers Union and of Farm Bureau Co-op. He enjoyed cutting wood, mowing grass and watching ball games. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan.

Survivors include four sons, Mike (Melodie) Gee of Columbus, Ohio, John Gee of Indianapolis, Jim Gee of Cathedral City, Calif., and Jeff (Diana) Gee of North Vernon; one daughter, Carrie Gee of Madison Lake, Minn.; one sister, Wanda Newlan of Maple Heights, Ohio; six grandchildren, Annie (Matt) Walls of Indianapolis, Stephen and Alexandra Gee of Columbus, Ohio, Jason Gee of Brown County, Matt Gee of Grayson, Ky., and Amanda Gee of North Vernon.

In addition to his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Genevieve, Robert Henry, William Frederick, Hurst Jr., Harry, Arthur and Walter.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department.
