James “Bill” W. Voils Jr., 68, Brown County

James “Bill” W. Voils Jr., 68, of Brown County, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 6, 2013 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.

Bill was born in Casey County, Ky., March 22, 1945 to the late James W. and Margie B. (Luster) Voils Sr. He married Linda Diane (Dorris) Voils July 8, 1964 in Beech Grove. Diane survives after 49 devoted years of marriage.

After receiving his HVAC degree from IUPUI, he started to work as a technician for Fieldhouse Refrigeration in Beech Grove from 1965 - 1980. In 1980, Bill became owner and operator of Voils Refrigeration in Brown County and retired in 1996. 

At the age of 17, Bill was baptized at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Zionsville. He enjoyed reading his Bible, playing on the church softball team and listening to country music. Bill loved spending time with his family and was known for being a storyteller and jokester. He also enjoyed the outdoors by working in his vegetable garden, fishing and squirrel hunting.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Theresa (Jason) Dawson and Christy (Rob) Pruitt, both of Brown County. Bill will be remembered by his siblings, Diane (Marvin) Tetrick, Jerry (Jean) Voils and Larry (Ruth) Voils, all of Brown County, Judy (Paul) Ballard and Janet (Marty) Dalton, both of Whiteland; seven grandchildren, Robbie Sizemore and Heather (Tim) Hicks, both of Manchester, Ky., Maeghn and Billy Pruitt, Jordan, Jalen and Emma Dawson, all of Brown County; three great-grandchildren, Miley and Jacob Hicks and Ander Sizemore, all of Manchester, Ky.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Sizemore; a son, James W. Voils III; and a sister, Barbara Scott.

The Rev. Rex Voils will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends can call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions can be sent in honor of Bill to New Life Community Church “Youth Group Fund”, 1450 State Road 135 North, Nashville, IN 47448.
