James R. Hadley, 77, of Columbus

James R. Hadley, 77, of Columbus, died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 at his home.

James was of the Methodist faith. He was in machine repair at Cummins Engine Company for 45 years. Jim was a farmer, and he coached Little League Baseball for 15 years. He loved to watch sports and was a great Purdue fan.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. John McKay officiating. Calling is from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday. Burial will take place at Ohio Chapel Cemetery.

James was born March 5, 1936 in Bartholomew County, son of Maurice and Wanna Stierman Hadley. He married Rosalee Lewis in 1956; she preceded him in death in 1988. He married Anna Lee Lewis Lawles Dec. 13, 1993. She survives.

Other survivors include children, Debra Prince of Ogilville, Ron Hadley of Columbus, Gary (Candi) Hadley of Ogilville, Bryan (Sherri) Hadley of Baltimore, Md. and Nikia Lynn Lawles of Columbus; stepchildren, Janice Sue (Dale) Spears, Linda (Lonnie) Doty, and Jimmy (Gail) Lawles, all of Columbus and Jack Lawles of Tennessee; a brother, Dewey “Bob” Hadley of Columbus; sisters, Dorothy Beavers and Barbara (Dave) Baker of Columbus; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and several great-grand and stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Hadley; a stepson, Ricky Lawles; and a son-in-law, Terry Prince.
