Stephen Lee Simmons, 60, Bloomington

 

Stephen Lee Simmons, 60, Bloomington, died Monday morning, Aug. 26, 2013, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born Jan. 9, 1953 in Bloomington, he was son of Richard Paul and Martha Louise (Anderson) Simmons. He retired two years ago from Indiana University Central Stores, where he worked as a supervisor. He liked listening to “oldies” music and coin collecting. He attended Great Harvest Ministry Center along with his wife, Roberta. He graduated in 1971 from University High School.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta (Nichols) Simmons of Bloomington; his mother, Martha Simmons of Ft. Worth, Texas, formerly of Bloomington; his two sons, Jarrod Lee (LaDena) Simmons of Bloomington and Casey Dale (Mandy) Simmons of Nashville; a sister, Joy (David) Petty of Ft. Worth, Texas; three brothers, Roger Simmons (Nancy Burger) of Fremont, Calif., Randall and Danny Simmons, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; his former sister-in-law, Sandy Simmons of Gainesville, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Ricey Norman, Kirsten, Casey Jr., and Kaitlyn Simmons, Aaliyah Favors and Layla Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral service will be conducted at noon Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Great Harvest Ministry Center, 1107 South Fairview St., Bloomington, with Pastor Tony Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Friends can visit the family from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday.
