Michael Dempsey Grissom, 25, of Hartsville

Michael Dempsey Grissom, 25, of Hartsville, died at 1:48 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

He was born in Columbus, Sept. 1, 1987, son of Dempsey and Christy Garrison Grissom, who both survive in Hartsville.

Michael was previously employed at Gehring Underground and was currently employed at Tyson-Crump. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time with his daughter and niece.

He is survived by his parents; a grandma, Bea Garrison of Columbus; a daughter, Macaelah L. Grissom of Hartsville; aunts and uncles, Candi and Keith Burton of Columbus, Pat and Junior Parnell of Kentucky, and Kevin Grissom of Brown County; a niece, Katie Lininger; a cousin, Craig Burton; and the mother of his child, Veronica Weed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald Garrison, Herman and Martha Grissom; great-grandparents, Lavon Stillinger, Caleb and Mattie Warren and Clarence Ferguson; an uncle, Robert Grissom; a cousin, Robert H. Grissom; and his best friend, Dillon Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
