Lucille “Lucy” (Allen) Wilson, 83, Brown County

Lucille “Lucy” (Allen) Wilson, 83, Brown County, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 23, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Lucy was born in Brown County July 25, 1929, to the late William Marion and Harriet J. (Finehout) Allen. She was a 1947 graduate of Van Buren Township High School in Brown County. She went on to earn bachelor's in elementary education from Franklin College in 1953 and her master’s degree in education in 1970 from Indiana Central in Indianapolis. 

Lucy was a devoted wife, mother and home maker. She worked as an elementary school teacher both in Indianapolis and in the state of New Jersey. Lucy was a former Franklin Township (Marion County) school board ember from 1969 to 1972.

She married Bob D. Wilson Aug. 3, 1952 in Bargersville. He survives after 60 devoted years of marriage. Also surviving are her two sons, Curtis (Ikuko) Wilson of Farmington Hills, Mich. and Clark (Sherri) Wilson of Greenwood; two sisters, Josephine Bailey of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Sally Walters of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Austin, Avery, Adrianne, Harold and Bobby Wilson; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Allen.

Lucy was known for cooking and especially her three bean salad. She enjoyed wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. with her husband, reading, working crossword puzzles and collecting Barbie dolls. Lucy cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and loved entertaining family and friends at her home. She also enjoyed singing and was in the Franklin College Choir while attending.

The Rev. Jerran Jackson will conduct a funeral service Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Freetown Church of Christ, 7077 State Road 135 in Freetown. Friends can call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 26 at Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Houston Cemetery in Houston.
