Lila “Dean” (Ellison) Dunn, 84, Trafalgar

Lila “Dean” (Ellison) Dunn, 84, Trafalgar, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, June 22, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Reed, Ky., May 11, 1929, to the late Albert and Ethel (Griffin) Ellison.  Dean married William L. “Bill” Dunn Feb. 23, 1952 in Stanley, Ky. He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1990, after 38 loving years. Together, they owned and operated Dunn’s Hardware & Building Supplies in Trafalgar for over 20 years. The family business continues to operate through their children.

Dean is survived by her two sons, William L. “Billy” and Bryan A. (wife, Sharon) Dunn, both of Trafalgar. She will be remembered by her seven grandchildren, John and David Walters, Josh, Jessica, Alisha, Mark and Kristina Dunn; and nine great-grandchildren.

Dean was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria D. Walters; and several siblings.

She enjoyed quilting and was a member of several quilting clubs. Dean volunteered at the Lord’s Locker and started the quilting club. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade BBQ sauce and making corn hole bags. Dean was a fan of reality television and enjoyed collecting hummingbirds and other collectibles.

The Rev. Mark Dillman will conduct a funeral service Wednesday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street, Morgantown. Friends can call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Harris Cemetery in Johnson County.
