Thelma “Nevie” Genneva (Jacobs) Rairdon, 91, Morgantown

Thelma “Nevie” Genneva (Jacobs) Rairdon, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Franklin United Methodist Community surrounded by her loving family. She was a former resident of Morgantown.

Nevie was born June 14, 1922, in Hensley Township to the late Joseph and Mary (Frazier) Jacobs. She married Dale W. Rairdon June 29, 1946 in Nineveh. He preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1997 after 51 years of loving marriage.

Nevie will be missed by her children, Donna Dalene (Kenny) Woolston of Morgantown and Stan C. (Julie) Rairdon of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three infant sisters;  a brother, Paul Jacobs; sisters,  Pearl Slinger and Esther Ratliff; and a niece, Connie Kirby, who Nevie raised. 

Nevie was a dedicated homemaker who found some of life’s greatest pleasures in flower and vegetable gardening, tending to her fruit trees, watching nature and feeding the birds and squirrels. She was a huge fan of Conway Twitty and Indiana University Basketball.  Nevie enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Nevie was a member of Morgantown First Christian Church. 

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 pm Saturday, June 22 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends can call from 11 am until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery, Morgantown.
