Robert E. “Bob” Neat, 89, Brown County

Robert E. “Bob” Neat, 89, Brown County, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Brown County Health & Living Community.

Bob was born March 14, 1924, in Hall to the late Delvin T. and Florence Nellie (Herring) Neat.  He married Sarah June Arnold June 19, 1949 in Morgantown. She preceded him in death Dec. 26, 2002, after 53 years of loving marriage.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley J. (husband, Jackie) Hedger of Morgantown; four grandchildren,  Andrew (Staci) and Paul (Angie) Hedger, both of Morgantown, Joy (Aaron) Jackson of Nashville, Michelle (Matt) Huntsman of Indianapolis; and eight great-grandchildren, Noah Guinn, Brayden, Piper and Callie Hedger,  Ayden Jackson, Nathan, Ben and Maddie Huntsman.

Bob was preceded in death by a son, William David Neat; two brothers, Herring T. and Harry T. Neat; and a sister, Kathryn Evelyn Harvey-Donaldson.

Bob was owner and operator of Neat Builders, where he specialized in stone masonry. He retired in 2010 after 64 years. Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing, going out to eat and attending the Martinsville Senior Center. He always had a story to tell and was quite a jokester.

Grandson Paul Hedger will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Morgantown Baptist Church, 109 W. Elm Street, Morgantown. Friends were to call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 17 at the church. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.

Memorial contributions can be made to “Building Fund of the Shelter House” at Morgantown Baptist Church, 109 E. Elm St. Morgantown, IN 46160.
