Movie showings start this month at the Brown County Playhouse
Updated on: 06.14.13

Equipment has been installed at the Brown County Playhouse Performing Arts Center to offer movies downtown.

"Star Trek: Into Darkness" will play Sunday, June 23, Thursday, June 27 and Sunday, June 30.

Sunday shows are at 4 and 7 p.m. and Thursday shows are at 7 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person, $4 for children and students.

Popcorn will be sold in the theater, as well as beer and wine.

Movies will be shown on the new, $65,000, 23-foot-wide screen with digital surround-sound. Seats are upholstered and the building is air-conditioned.

"Star Trek: Into Darkness" is the latest installment in the classic sci-fi series.

This is the first time the Playhouse has been able to offer movies since the historic auditorium was taken back into the community's hands in 2011. The Playhouse management group continues to offer a series of concerts including a mix of local and out-of-area entertainment. It also has experimented with musicals, plays and a magic show.
