Mary 'Joan' Perisho, 89, Nashville

Mary "Joan" Perisho, 89, Nashville, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, June 14, 2013 at Brown County Health & Living Community. By her side, was her best friend and companion for the past 53 years, Merle Draper of Nashville.

Joan was born in Carmel on Oct. 17, 1923 to the late Leland Morris and Julie Marie (Owen) Perisho. She was a 1941 graduate of Arcadia High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the school of business at Indiana University in Bloomington and her master’s degree in education, also from IU.

She retired in 1982 as assistant professor at IU after 38 years of teaching. Joan was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and a long-time season ticket holder for IU men’s basketball. She enjoyed going out to eat and visiting with friends. She was a fan of music and the theater. Joan also enjoyed bird watching, mushroom hunting and reading. 

She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Charles O. Perisho Dec. 3, 2007. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends can call from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
