John Clegg, 84, Nashville

John P. Clegg, 84, Nashville, died at 10 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Brown County Health & Living.

John was born in Surrey, England, April 27, 1929, to Percival and Margaret Cooke Clegg. He married Joyce Rogers April 17, 1951.

John served in the Royal Air Force Costal Command as a member of the Air/Sea Rescue. He formerly worked at Cummins Engine Company and retired from Grimmer-Schmidt Corp. He was the former past president of the Columbus Lions Club. He enjoyed vintage cars and motorcycles, airplanes, sailing and working on projects to improve or invent something new.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus with the Rev. Debbie Ralston officiating. Family and friends can call from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

John is survived by his wife, Joyce Clegg of Nashville; sons, Stephen (Heidi) Clegg of Denmark, Bruce (Donna) Clegg of Nashville and Joseph (Helene) Clegg of Seymour; stepson, Derek (Janet) Reeves of Florida; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Clegg, George Clegg, Camilla Clegg, Samuel Clegg and Maysa Clegg; and great-grandchildren, Christopher Clegg Jr., and Joshua Clegg.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
