Sandra Joann Ayers, 66, Brownstown

Mrs. Sandra Joann Ayers, 66, Brownstown, formerly of Brown County, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born April 14, 1947 in Brown County, she was daughter of Wilbur and Kathryn (Ferguson) Lucas. On June 15, 1963 in Freetown she married Gerald S. “Scotty” Ayers, who survives.

Sandra was employed as a waitress with the Nashville House in Brown County. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Sandra liked gardening and hunting for mushrooms. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; daughters, Michelle (Michael) Crum and Penny (Kevin) Tolle; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin) Burnett, Mackenzie Crum, Nicole Bringle and Hunter Tolle; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Haley and Brayton Bringle; brother, Darrell (Mary) Lucas; and sister, Debbie (Clyde) Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clifford, Roger, Denny and Randy Lucas; and stepmother, Lottie Lucas.

Funeral services will be conducted at Voss Chapel on Sunday, May 19, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Barrett officiating.

Burial will take place at Christianburg Cemetery with a Voss dove release.

Friends can call at Voss Chapel on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until time of service.
