Anna B. Fendley, 92, Franklin

Anna B. Fendley, 92, of Franklin United Methodist Community, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013.

She was born April 5, 1921, in Indianapolis, to Clint and Katie (Brown) Borden. She married Benjamin Hill Fendley on Aug. 16, 1947, at Edwin Ray United Methodist Church in Fountain Square area of Indianapolis. He survives.

She had lived in Indianapolis, Beech Grove, Sweetwater Lake in Nineveh, and in Franklin. She was a former member of Edwin Ray United Methodist Church, Beech Grove United Methodist Church, Church of the Lakes in Nineveh, and Tabernacle Christian Church in Franklin.

She and her husband taught Sunday school for many years in the previous churches.

She was a 1939 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She loved flowers, baking, baking pies, particularly with her own pie crust, and her utmost joy and love of sharing and giving her baked goods to the many who enjoyed them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Benjamin Hill Fendley of Franklin United Methodist Community; two sons, Craig Fendley (Margie) of Summerville, S.C.  and Clint Fendley (Jan) of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Josh Fendley (Anna) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gabe Fendley of Istanbul, Turkey, Matt Fendley of Charleston, S.C. and Joe Fendley of Seattle, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Jameson and Grant Fendley. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Revs. William Horner and David Lee conducted a funeral service Monday, April 29 at Wright Chapel of Franklin United Methodist Community, with visitation before the service at the chapel. Burial took place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN 46131.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center in Franklin is handling arrangements.
