Report: Semi on its side on 135 South
Updated on: 05.01.13

STONE HEAD -- At about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, police and EMS were called to the 4200 block of State Road 135 South for a report of a semi on its side. The driver is reportedly bleeding from the head, according to Brown County Dispatch traffic. No officers are yet on scene.

The area is just south of the T at Stone Head.

2:46 p.m. UPDATE: A state trooper on scene reports that the semi was hauling liquid fertilizer. Both lanes of the road are being shut down.

4:06 p.m. UPDATE: One lane is now open, police report.

10 p.m. UPDATE: The driver of the semi, Kent A. Carr, 48, Seymour, was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with head injuries, state police Trooper Chris Griggs reported in a news release. The semi, northbound on State Road 135 South, went off the road on the right side, causing it to be pulled off the road and jackknife, then roll onto its side. Its load was dumped into the field where the semi lay. At about 6:30 p.m., heavy machinery was loading buckets of soil into a dump truck to be hauled from the site.

Griggs was assisted by ISP Motor Carrier Inspector Kim Judge, the Brown County Sheriff's Department, Van Buren Fire Department, Nashville Fire Department, Columbus Ambulance Service and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
