Ted D. Zaharako, D.D.S., 62, Columbus

Ted D. Zaharako, D.D.S., 62, Columbus, died at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Ted was a 1968 graduate of Columbus High School, a 1972 graduate of Indiana University and a 1976 graduate of the IU School of Dentistry. He opened a dental practice in Columbus 35 years ago, in 1978, and had been associated with Zaharako Confectionary since he was 14 years old, later becoming a partner. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, Kiwanis Club, Bartholomew County and American Dental associations, and Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, Columbus, with Father Bill Stumpf officiating. Calling will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 21 and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Columbus May 16, 1950, Ted was son of Lewie J. and May V. Daleure Zaharako. He married Alice Jean "Allie" Phillips Oct. 10, 1998, in Columbus. She survives.

Other survivors include son, Anthony D. Zaharako of Columbus; and cousin, Demetrios (Joanna) Zaharako of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lew D. Zaharako; and his mother- and father-in-law,  Sara and Douglas Phillips.
