Flash flood watch for Thursday, Friday
Updated on: 04.17.13

More rain is coming to already soaked ground, triggering a flash flood watch for Brown and surrounding counties.

The National Weather Service has issued the watch for Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, with another strong storm system predicted to drop heavy rain.

Some areas received more than 2 inches Wednesday night -- enough to uproot mature trees.

South of Nashville on State Road 135 South, the multiple slab creek crossings were flooded this morning and the road was littered with clumps of leaves and debris as big as a person's leg, washed out of ditches where they'd gathered all winter.

At the west end of town, a new logjam on Salt Creek, between State Road 46 and the water treatment plant, threatened to spill water into yards along the creek. Washington Street was barricaded at Johnson Street as a precaution.

Town Council President Bob Kirlin said he'd contacted the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for possible help in removing the jam before more rain arrives.
