Several local runners reportedly OK after Boston Marathon blast UPDATED, 6:47 p.m. Monday
Updated on: 04.15.13

At least four local runners participating in the Boston Marathon are OK.

Just before 3 p.m. Monday, two explosions went off near the finish line of the annual event, injuring several and killing at least two people.

Rob Weaver reported via text message and on his Facebook page that his wife DeAnne Weaver and her sister Beth Carr are alright, said local runner Danny Webb.

Webb noted that Grant Russo and Nick Zellmer were not harmed in the explosion, either.

Russo is a Columbus resident and Brown County High School graduate.

Zellmer, son of local residents Mandy and Alan Zellmer, had finished the race and was at the airport at the time of the explosion, said Webb.

To report the status of any locals that are or were in Boston at the time of the explosion, send a message via email to newsroom@bcdemocrat.com or via private message on Facebook.

UPDATE, 6:47 p.m.

For locals having difficulty contacting family in Boston, there is a number to call, a press release from the Indiana State Police says.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security received information from a Massachusetts emergency management agency that provided the following phone number for Indiana residents to check on family: 617-635-4500.
Individuals should not call the number unless there is difficulty contacting family.
