James Keefer Pirtle, 59, Stafford, Va.

James Keefer Pirtle, 59, of Stafford, Va., passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013, at IU Health Hospice House.

Born Jan. 2, 1954 in Alameda, Calif., he was son of Paul R. and Helen E. (Gardner) Pirtle. Jim graduated from Jasper High School in 1972. He attended Indiana University and the University of South Florida earning a language degree. He worked as a fingerprint technician for the Naval Criminal Investigation Service in Quantico, Va. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, fourth degree. Jim enjoyed watching western movies, telling a good joke, talking politics and religion, reading good books and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Housman and her husband Don; and two nephews, Benjamin and Gordon Housman, all of Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington for their unwavering support and compassion during his final days. They also wish to express sincere appreciation to the NCIS family for their support and dear friendships that Jim enjoyed during his years with the organization.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at The Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus via website www.kofc.org
