Robert "Uncle Bob" T. Mullin, 72, Nashville

Robert "Uncle Bob" T. Mullin, 72, Nashville, died on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Columbus Hospice after a long illness.

Born in Great Neck, N.Y. on Jan. 24, 1941, he moved to Indiana as a young man and started an insurance agency which he ran for 20 years. He also held patents in the cosmetic and packaging industries, formed a financial service company, and built Boomer's Family Recreation in Boca Raton, Fla. He owned several restaurants through the years and loved great food. In retirement, he opened "Uncle Bob's Antiques" in Nashville, where he loved being part of the town.
In 1989, he co-founded Boca Hoops Youth Basketball in Boca Raton, Fla., which quickly became one of the nation's premier youth basketball programs. Summer camps were a spin-off and over the years tens of thousands of kids have gotten to play because of the program which is still a force in Boca.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jolie; and their six children, Tim Mullin of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kimberly Barclay of Jacksonville, Fla., Kay Grieve of Margate, Fla., Sean Mullin of Los Angeles, Calif., Chris Mullin of Washington, D.C. and Dino Mullin of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Art Mullin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren.

A private family celebration is planned.
