James “Jim” Philip Bessire, 73, of Ashland City, Tenn., passed away March 12, 2013.
Born May 12, 1939, Jim was well known for his love of family and bluegrass music. He played and traveled with Bill Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mary Bessire; parents, Phillip Dale and Fern Connell Bessire; mother, Katherine Dilts Bessire; and sister, Judith Bessire George.
He is survived by children, James Mitchel Bessire, Amanda Kay Gull, Philip Dale (Becky) Bessire III and Margaret Ann (James) Nash; grandchildren, Maggie D. Carver, William C. Bessire, Michael M. Baker, Ashley, Tiffany, Cindy, James Robert, Philip Dale B. IV, Ashton and Sean Bessire; great-grandchildren, Emily Stenbridge, Maile Baker, Tara Jo and Cody Alexander Bessire; sisters, Janet Bessire Higgins and Jennifer Bessire Nichol; and brothers, Dave, Richard and Jack Bessire.
A joint memorial service for James Philip and his late wife, Margaret Mary Bessire will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, at Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home in Joelton, Tenn.
