Marilyn Root Cauble, 87, Nashvile, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Brown County Health and Living with her family at her side.

Marilyn was born Nov. 20, 1925 in New Castle, to Arnim and Thelma (Barnes) Root. She grew up in Hagerstown, Ind. and Tuscola, Ill. Marilyn had a bachelor's in education and a master's in psychology from Ball State University. She taught in Daleville and was director of Pupil and Personnel Services for Delware Community Schools. Marilyn was instrumental in developing one of the first systems of preschool diagnostic testing which won an international award. She traveled in Europe and the United States, helping to establish these testing programs. After retiring, she volunteered at Ball Memorial Hospital and the Minnetrista Center. She especially enjoyed helping with the festival of Trees and Lights. She was a longtime Muncie resident before moving to Nashville to be closer to her children and their families. While in Brown County, she was active in the Retired Teachers Association, Brown County Historical Society and several other community organizations.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Adeana (Paul) Cauble Colvin; and son, Douglas (Julie) Cauble; sister, Jeanne Root Miller, four grandsons, Paul and Brian Colvin, and Ryan and Joshua Cauble; four great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Carl Cauble and Donald Main; aunt, Sylva Root Enyeart; and her sister, Donna Root Seip.

At Marilyn’s request there will be no funeral; however, a celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
