Ralph W. Myers, 73, Brown County, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 15, 2013 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
Ralph was born in Scottsville, Ky., on April 4, 1939, to the late Owen B. and Jewell (Terrell) Myers. He was a 1957 graduate of Beech Grove High School and went on to serve as a sergeant with the United State Army. After serving his country, Ralph married Karen S. (Toler) in Beech Grove on Oct. 28, 1961. She lovingly survives after 51 years.
Ralph retired in 1995 as a millwright for Chrysler Automotive in Indianapolis after 30 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 685, served 10 years as a reserve deputy for the Brown County sheriff’s office and also served 15 years as a member of the Fruitdale Fire Department. After retirement, Ralph enjoyed boating with his family at Lake Monroe and was a member of the Power Squadron Boating Club in Bloomington. He also enjoyed traveling, raising horses, fishing, and Ralph was a fan of NASCAR, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhart Jr., and a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He was known for his great cooking, including his pork roast and fried rice.
Ralph was a loving father to Patricia Wright of Franklin and her children, Danielle and Ryan Sullivan, both of Franklin. He will be remembered by his sister, Sue (Joe) Brown of Indianapolis; brother, Larry (Carolyn) Myers of Indianapolis; and his great-granddaughter, Avery Jewel Sullivan of Franklin.
Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers, James O. Myers (infant) and Kenneth E. Myers.
Ralph’s wishes were to be cremated with a private family burial at sea. Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith–Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
